Sophia's Kitchen

Inspired by the spirit of St. Francis and under the pastoral leadership of Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish, this mission is an outward expression of our Catholic beliefs.

Volunteers make hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches daily. The rest of the menu varies day by day as God provides. Local grocery stores and restaurants donate liberally to help provide filling and nutritious food.

Mayor roast

  • Sophia's Kitchen is happy to be one of the charities that will benefit from this year's Mayor's Roast. Please join us for a delicious evening filled with fun.

Chief Mike McCoy has graciously agreed to be "roasted." He has chosen to support three local charities. Dream Center Peoria, Sophia's Kitchen and Camp Hope for the kids of St. Jude.

There really isn’t anything Mike wouldn’t do to help raise funds for these wonderful organizations…including being the butt of a couple of jokes. On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Mike will be asked to remain silent at the 4th Annual Mayor’s Roast while the roasters take pleasure in poking fun at his exploits. He will be thrilled to know that friends and colleagues such as yourself will be chuckling in their seats and making a difference to causes so close to his heart. And in the interest of fairness, Mike does get the last laugh.

Tickets are $175 each and sponsorship packages are available by contacting Michelle Luther, 309-676 3000 x301, michelle.luther@dreamcenterpeoria.org

Sophia’s Kitchen is located next to Historic St. Joseph Church, 103 Richard Pryor Place in Peoria.  Sophia's Kitchen is staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers, who give generously of their time so that no one goes hungry.  Donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM.
