ADVENT

Dear parishioners,

Who is ready for a fresh start and to put 2020 behind us? As Catholics we have a wonderful opportunity to do just that by entering into the season of Advent which marks a new liturgical year. This year the First Sunday of Advent falls on November 29th [Thanksgiving weekend]. Let's prepare together to make this a very special Advent by having a plan BEFORE Advent starts. Otherwise it will get away from us. Advent is a wonderful opportunity  to regroup and rediscover the transforming power of God's promises fulfilled in sending His Son to be our Savior. I want to encourage you to plan some personal and family prayer time and consider setting up an Advent wreath in your home as a focal point of this time of preparation. There are many online resources that you can sign up for, like:  dynamiccatholic.com    wordonfire.org    mycatholic.life

We will also be making available copies of daily meditations for Advent by The Word Among Us and  missalettes so you can pray over the daily and Sunday readings for this season. Mark your calendars that there will be Evening Prayer and Benediction each Sunday of Advent at 4pm. Watch for further details. Your plan should also  include going to Confession and if your schedule allows, to come for Mass during the week. This would also be an ideal time to reach out to those you have not seen lately or been out of touch with, especially those you used to see at Mass but haven't since Covid. A phone call or letter could relieve someone's isolation and be an invitation to reconnect with their faith community. May we be united in supporting each other as we enter into a season of spiritual renewal.  We are in the hands of the One who says; "See, I make all things new."

Mass Times

CONFESSIONS:
Sacred Heart Church from 11am until noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 7am until 7:25am on Saturdays.
For the time being, we will not be using the confessionals but rather the room to the left as you come in from the parking lot. This will allow for more space and ventilation while still providing the options to go face to face or behind a screen. Look for blue tape on the entrance hall floor to mark where to wait. There will be spacing. Please wear your mask. Sanitizer will be provided as you come and go.

PRAYER FOR CANONIZATION Archbishop Fulton Sheen:
Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people. If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Imprimatur:
+Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, C.S.C., Bishop of Peoria
